I am primarily a visual artist with integrative practices across music and writing disciplines. Through installation that leans on hand drawn animation, experimental photography, poetry, encaustic and music composition, I seek to explore the way in which our subconscious touches the landscapes we inhabit. As an active and vivid dreamer, I illustrate dreamscapes through these installation practices. My dreams “take place” in very real—although distorted—locations, often in the American mid/west.
My music and visual art practices are intertwined and inseparable. My work draws upon the chance composition elements and is rooted in the social impacts of ecological destruction. Using data sourced from sources that are increasingly under threat, I see these data based compositions as uniquely important in this moment.
I am personally interested in how to encourage conservation goals in the American west through the deeply personal. My professional life has encompassed government and non-profit work in the environmental sector and I have personally witnessed the apathy that comes from a disconnection from the land.
